Personal ProfileProfessor Ma Huarong has more than 20 years of experience in plastic and aesthetic surgery. Post-Liposuction Precautions
1. On the day of liposuction, you should get out of bed and move around to enhance blood circulation. Do not use aspirin or anti-inflammatory medications before surgery, and do not smoke.
2. Postoperative swelling generally begins to subside after one week, and bruising may last for 3 weeks or longer.
3. A follow-up visit should be made 3-5 days after liposuction to remove the dressings; the wound should be covered with a small piece of gauze or an adhesive bandage. To reduce pain and exudation in the operative area and to achieve better shaping, after removal of the external dressings, wear well-elastic compression garments for 3-6 months.
4. A second follow-up visit should be made 1 month after liposuction. At this time, subcutaneous bruising should have basically resolved, and induration and skin numbness should also be reduced compared with before.
5. A third follow-up visit should be made 3 months after liposuction. At this time, the skin has basically retracted, which can be regarded as a relatively good result of liposuction.
